SNORKEL IN CENOTES

Snorkeling in a Cenote is a great way to spend time in the Riviera Maya. You will visit two Cenotes on our full-day snorkel tour with an option to either snorkel in the ocean or visit a local ruin.

See our common questions and interactive map for more information.

This Cenote is perfect for snorkelers as it is very lit and quite relaxed. It's also right next to the Caribbean Sea and can be easily combined with an Ocean tour.

DOS OJOS

Dos Ojos is one of the region's largest Cenotes with two separate entrances. In this Cenote tour you can snorkel in a bat cave (pictured)!

This Cenote is like a pool in the middle of the jungle and is home to fish, freshwater eels, and a fairly dense and wide Halocline (freshwater and saltwater).

CHIKIN-HA

Chikin Ha Cenote

This Cenote is perfect to enjoy a good snorkel with magnificent light entrances. Your loved one can also dive while you Snorkel.

CAR WASH

Also called Aktun-Ha, Car Wash is an open Cenote with flora and fauna, water lilies, fresh water turtles and, with luck, sometimes a small crocodile. It has a dive platform and several places to read and relax.

Questions

Common Questions

What is a Cenote?

A Cenote is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater. The regional term is specifically associated with the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, where cenotes were commonly used for water supplies by the ancient Maya, and occasionally for sacrificial offerings.
